BEIJING CHICKEN RECIPE | Beijing Bites Street Food
For the chicken:
500g chicken
1 tbsp soya sauce
1 tbsp ginger- garlic paste
1/4 tsp pepper powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp chilli powder or paprika powder
2 eggs
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
4 tbsp cornflour or cornstarch
Other ingredients:
4-5 tbsp vegetable oil + extra for frying
Few dry red chillies
2 tbsp fresh ginger, chopped
4 tbsp garlic, chopped
2 red onions
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp vinegar
1/2 tsp sriracha
4 tbsp tomato sauce/ketchup
Salt to taste
2 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 4 tbsp of water
Green bell pepper
2 tbsp brown sugar (optional)
Method:
In a large bowl add chicken, one tablespoon of soya sauce, ginger-garlic paste, salt, pepper powder, chilli powder and mix well.
Marinate the chicken for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes add eggs, all-purpose flour, cornstarch, red chilli paste and mix well.
Heat the oil in a pan, deep fry the red chillies and keep that aside.
Now, in the same hot oil deep fry the chicken pieces until golden and crispy.
Next, add 4 - 5 tablespoons of oil in a pan, then add ginger, garlic and saute.
Add onion and saute for a minute.
Once the onion is cooked add soy sauce, vinegar, sriracha, tomato sauce and stir.
Now, add salt, cornstarch mixed with water and stir.
Add in the green bell pepper and saute for a minute.
Furthermore, add in the fried chicken and saute for 2 minutes.
Stir in the fried red chillies and serve immediately.
